Griffin Elan form Case with EasyDock for iPhone 3G, 3G S (Black)

I've owned this case for over a year now. I bought it when I bought my 3G. It was the nicest case they had in the AT&T store so I chose it to have a case figuring I could always replace it. After trying a couple of other cases friends recommended, I always came back to this case. Has a nice executive look. It hasn't scratched my phone or caused any other harm. In fact the reason I buying another is my phone fell off a pool bar onto concrete and while the case itself cracked, my phone is still in one piece.

I spent $34.95 for a cool looking case to protect my phone from nicks and scratches. What did I get instead? I got a $34.95 case that left deep scratches into my 3 day old iphone 3G S. Seriously avoid this case if you care about preserving your phone in anyway. My 3 day old iphone is now as marked up as my previous iphone which is a year old.
Avoid at all costs!

I've had my Elan case for about 9 mos now, and no sign of peeling leather. Maybe that issue was fixed. The case fits my 3G phone perfectly, and it's an elegant look. Doesn't stick in my pocket and collect lint like some others. Good protection for both phone and screen.

I had high hopes for this case. There are three things I mainly didn't like:

1. The plastic itself is too thick, and isn't soft touch or rubberized

2. I didn't like how the "easy dock" works. Easy dock means you have to take the bottom half of the case off to dock it. I didn't understand this ahead of time or like it.

3. It comes up over the edge of the screen, so dirt collects around the screen.

I've been far happier with the slim polycarbonate cases that I've bought on amazon. I rated it two because it didn't break and wasn't extremely different than advertised. There was just a lot to experience beyond the description.

I really liked the feel of the case. it is slim, which didn't add bulk to the phone. but that is all I like about the case. I took the case off the replace the protective screen and found the back of my iPhone completely scratched from small specks of dust and scratched from the case having been taken on and off of the phone. Unless you are going to keep the cover for ever, I would not recommend this to anyone. the purpose of a case is to protect, not accelerate damage.
