Must Have for iPod Touch Owners
If you have an iPod Touch with the ghetto stock iPod earbuds, order the Griffin SmartTalk Headphone Adapter. Here's what you'll be able to do:

- pause and play audio playback with a click of a button
- use voice search on Google and Bing
- record voice memo's
- make free calls using Fring, iCall and Skype

Good extension cable
The cable works great as an extension. The cable is very light and easily managed. I am using it with Shure in-ear Headphones, whose extension was quite heavy and annoying. I have not tried the microphone yet. I wish it had volume control.

badly designed
I bought this microphone for use with my iPod touch 2nd generation. When I connected it to my iPod and tried to use it with Voice Memos, I got a warning message saying 'no microphone is connected'. I had the same problem with Skype. Eventually, I realized that there is a problem with the connection, because the microphone plug doesn't make a good connection with the headphone jack. I had read the other (mostly negative) online reviews on hear so I decided to play around with it for a bit. I found that if you wiggle the plug around within the headphone jack, you can sometimes get the microphone to connect for a second or two. However, I couldn't get it to connect for any more than a couple of seconds, which is useless, and I also worried about damaging the headphone jack on my iPod by messing around with it. Unfortunately, this mic is just a very badly designed product, and I returned it immediately.

Great iPod mic!
I love this microphone. I've had phone conversations, recorded church and classes at school, and used it for tagging music with Shazam. Great sound quality, easy to use and quite sensitive. I highly recommend this.
The one I got when I first ordered had connection issues, but griffin replaced it and it works flawlessly.

Works with iPod Touch 3g
I bought this to allow me to use 3rd party clip on headphones in place of those Apple ear buds. I hate ear buds, and Apples aren't comfortable, for my ears, after just a couple of hours of use. Anyway, back to the review of this item; it works fine. I have a 64Gb 3rd gen Touch, and the only real complaint is this unit does NOT allow for volume control at all. While the specs don't state volume control, or lack there of, for me they seemed to imply that it was there. It works great to pause, skip forward or backward. The mic appears to be fine for use, even though the voice control functionality of the Touch doesn't get it right as often as I would like - even using the Apple ear buds. So, no big deal, I was mainly interested in using my clip on headphones and have a mic for Skype, Truphone, or Fring to voice chat with anyone I knew on those services. (I am looking forward to the return of Google Voice to the iPhone/iPod Touch arena) So far, no issues with build quality - but, I've only used it a few times so far. One reviewer complained of the additional cord length you have to deal with, and I concur, it does create a wiring nightmare. Hard to envision 30 inches of extra cord, that's 2.5 feet...I keep my coiled and wire tied to only add about 6 inches to my headphone cord.

Pros:
Works with iPod Touch
Provides mic
Provides pause, skip forward, and skip backward functionality

Cons:
No volume control
Cord length is long
